When creating an NPC, I like to give layers to the character, especially one that gives the PC instructions at the beginning. We all have mashed the X button to get to the fun, but how do you reward the patient player who wants to know more about the story without punishing the player who just wants to play? You create a layered "cake" and use knife theory to make them poignant. Bingo!
